We support UN Global

In June 2021, Axactor became a signatory of the UN Global Compact principles further recognizing the importance of sustainability.

We are convinced that companies that incorporate sustainability into their operations and business decisions have the prerequisites to be more successful in the long term. To us, the integration of economic, social and environmental aspects into our business is fundamental.​​​​​​​ Being a signatory of the UN’s Global Compact business initiative and supporting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals emphasizes our daily work to make a difference in our goal of creating a more sustainable society.

What are the UN’s Sustainability Development Goals?

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

They were agreed upon by all 193 UN member states, and provide common guidance for governments, civil society and the private sector to help create a better future for people and the planet. The 17 SDGs are integrated—they recognize that action in one area will affect outcomes in others and that development must balance social, economic and environmental sustainability.

Axactor's contribution to the UN's Sustainability Development Goals

Based on our principles, our ethical standard and where we have the greatest impact, Axactor has identified and prioritized three of the UN's Sustainability Development Goals, but we also take responsibility for contributing to other SDG's.

Goal 5: Gender equality

Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

5.5 Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision making in political, economic and public life

Examples of Axactor's contribution

  • 65% of the employees in Axactor are women and are represented at all levels within the company
  • Axactor aim to have an even gender balance within all managerial teams, where genders are represented within the range of 40%-60%

Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth

Promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all.

8.2 Achieve higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technological upgrading and innovation, including through a focus on high-value added and labour-intensive sectors.

8.5 By 2030, achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men, including for young people and persons with disabilities, and equal pay for work of equal value.

  • Over 80% of the employees were satisfied with the work situation according to the latest people survey ​​​​​​​
  • Axactor wants to help create jobs and growth in countries where it conducts its operations
  • Strong focus on creating equality for all employees as well as diversity and a sound work environment

Goal 13: Climate action

Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

Examples of Axactor's contribution

  • Policies and procedures updated to further address and promote climate action and continued environmentally friendly growth
  • Project to map the Group’s total GHG emissions, going further than current reporting requirements, to start working more actively towards reducing the Group’s environmental footprint. The project will continue going into 2022
  • Paper management project in Spain, having the Group’s most paper-intensive operations because of physical mail requirements: Successfully recycling 12,920 kg of paper. Resulting in saving 180 trees, 11,6 tons of CO2 emissions, 646 m3 of water usage and 26 m3 of space saved in landfills

Goal 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions

Promote peaceful and inclusive societies.

16.4 By 2030, significantly reduce illicit financial and arms flows, strengthen the recovery and return of stolen assets and combat all forms of organized crime. 16.5 Substantially reduce corruption and bribery in all their forms.

16.6 Develop effective, accountable and transparent institutions at all levels.

Examples of Axactor's contribution

  • Policies and processes to prevent and detect unethical behaviour, fraud, corruption, money laundering and terrorist financing have been established. The company has a zero-tolerance policy.
  • ​​​​​​​Solid internal control regime focusing on measures to prevent and detect financial crime in all its forms
